Cycle for the Cause
Team Eagle FAQs

  • Cycle for the Cause is a 3-day, 200+ mile, ride that, as of 2026, starts and finishes in NYC with a course that forms a giant red ribbon in the northeast. Team and individuals raise funds and awareness through the ride to support the HIV & AIDS support services, counseling, recovery, and other services of the NYC LGBT Community Center.

  • Team Eagle is one of the oldest and longest-running community teams on the ride. Started by Rick Weber during his 2007 Mr. Eagle title year, the team has always had a close connection with The Eagle NYC leather bar. Many socials and fundraisers are held at the bar.

  • Riders raise a minimum of $3,000 and Crew raise a minimum of $1,000 for the ride. These funds don’t need to be raised by the start of the ride and both continue fundraising all the way through the finish line on Day 3. Folks have until Dec 31 to reach their minimums, however Team Eagle members often raise far beyond. In the words of our founder, Rick Weber, “Eagles Don’t Do Minimums.”

  • Besides the higher fundraising goal, Riders train from last spring though the summer to be able to complete the mileage of the ride. It’s a great opportunity to socialize, but also a lot of, generally, Saturday or Sunday mornings given to getting the training in. Crew are the unsung heroes of the ride. Crew manage our rest stops, pick up riders in sweep vans, assist bike techs, and a lot more. Both are an essential part of the ride and of Team Eagle.
