Rick Weber, #57

"I started the Team in 2007. I had been doing the ride since 2003. I spent numerous nights at The Eagle talking about the ride and The Center and most people had a confused look on their face and would say "We have a center?"  I became Mr Eagle in 2007 and decided that this was a good time to start Team EAGLE and use the ride as a way to give more attention to The Center.  The leather community has always been a community of giving back and helping our community, so this was a perfect match!

Team Eagle has been a big part of The Center.  If you walk around The Center today, you'll find numerous plaques recognizing Team Eagle's contributions to those rooms.  You'll also find Team Eagle members who are no longer with us that have left a huge imprint on The Center.  Team Eagle is a big part of the ride, so much so that the riders look forward to all the 'tools' we'll bring to help on and all up those hills."

Thom Kam, #179

During the last 28 years, I’ve been part of 19 of these rides raising funds for the HIV/AIDS programs and services at The LCBT Center NYC. I've crewed for 5 and have been a cyclist on 14 of them. Going for the big 15 out of 20 in 2023 and would like you to support me.

I'll be starting my training in spring 2023 gearing up to ride all 275 miles, this time as a survivor of both AIDS and Cancer.

Positive Pedalers

Positive Pedalers, or Poz Peds as we call them, ride with red pennants on their bikes and truly embody the spirit of Cycle for the Cause: radical openness and empowering acceptance. Our community is stronger thanks to their activism.

“We’re passive cheerleaders. Simple by being here and being out with our status and not being ashamed of it. I’m a 23-year AIDS survivor. I live with it, I manage it, it’s a part of my life. It doesn’t define who I am with the world, but I am proud that I can do this…”
