This will be my 9th year riding for The Center and I'm proud this year to riding for the first time as a member of Team Eagle.
I decided to do my first ride in 2005 because I thought it would be fun. I didn't realize at the time how deeply Cycle for the Cause would affect my life.
Training to ride 275 miles over 3 days turned me into a cyclist. I went from not owning a bike to riding 4,000 miles a year. This is a little extreme I admit, but I was looking for a change and cycling became my new passion.
The more profound change however has been in my reason to do the ride. Experiencing Cycle for the Cause alongside people that have been helped by The Center's HIV/AIDS services, hearing their stories and seeing new hope in lives that were nearly lost led me to this realization: I'm not just raising money for The Center; I'm a partner in their mission to end AIDS and save lives. This is what brings me back year after year.
For Team Eagle, Cycle for the Cause is not just a 3-day bicycle ride. It's a year-round commitment to fundraising, training, friendship and mutual support.
I would love for you to join me and see where the ride may take you, but if you can't I sure would appreciate your support.
