It's that time again. I've always said that I'll keep pedaling until someone stops me on the side of the road and says, "It's ok, you can stop now ... they've found a cure." Unfortunately, the fight is far from over. So, once again, I ride.
2010 will mark my fourth Braking the Cycle ride as part of Team Eagle – an amazing group of men and women who inspire me beyond words.
I am riding in memory of all my friends and family that I have lost to AIDS ... When I think of all the unfulfilled goals, loves, hopes and dreams in the past 25+ years since their passing, it's staggers me ... so I ride for them ... and in the hopes of preventing the loss of more lives and dreams.
I am riding in honor of all of my family and friends who live with HIV on a daily basis ... and for the Center which, through its tireless work, provides the crucial services, counseling, and support they need.
I am riding because I am angry at the complacency I witness in the world around me (and what better way to channel that anger).
I am riding to raise awareness that AIDS/HIV is as much as ever a crisis without a vaccine or cure.
I am riding because with each passing year it gets harder and harder to recall a time before AIDS ... and I am riding because there are those who never knew a world without it.
I am riding because I want to know a time without AIDS again ... for a time when no one has to ride.
As always, thank you so very much for your support. And in these tough economic times, your help is especially appreciated. Thank you!
